Sharing a Room on a Group Trip: Roommates and Private Rooms

Share and save, or pay for your own space? Here is how rooms work on hosted trips, and how to be a great roommate.

On the booking form you choose one of three options: happy to share a room, a private room, or a room with your partner or friend. Here is what each one means.

Happy to share a room

We pair you with another traveller from the group who also chose to share. It is the cheapest option and a great way to make a friend from day one.

Private room

You have your own room for the whole trip. A supplement applies, shown on the trip page. Some places, like small desert camps, may have limited private rooms, so book early.

With your partner or a friend

Book together and tell us the name of the person you travel with: we put you in the same room.

Being a good roommate

  • Agree on alarm times and lights out on the first night
  • Keep your bag tidy: rooms in riads can be small
  • Bring earplugs and an eye mask, for you and for them
  • Talk openly if something bothers you
